Assistant, Associate and Senior Planners

Location: San Joaquin Valley, CA, Region

We are currently seeking qualified Assistant, Associate and Senior Planners to join a diverse team of professionals working together in a variety of functions related to current and long-range planning, supporting our clients in the San Joaquin Valley region. Our team works closely together toward the goal of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities will include various functions of current and long range planning, including, but not limited to: review of project plans and project entitlement processes, assist in the development or review of long-term planning documents, serve as an extension of agency staff, prepare/present staff reports, and assist with preparation of environmental documentation.

The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to efficiently conduct research efforts; provide clear, concise, and accurate technical writing and analysis; and represent PMC and our client agencies during project meetings and public hearings. Must possess working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of city planning, land use planning, and state/federal regulatory processes including CEQA/NEPA. In addition, the successful candidates will communicate effectively and assist with marketing and business development efforts. The ideal candidates will have experience working in the San Joaquin Valley area.

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in planning or a closely related field and possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously and independently.

Qualified candidates for the Assistant Planner positions must have at least one year of progressively responsible planning experience. Planning Intern

Location: San Luis Obispo

We have an immediate need for a planning intern to join our San Luis Obispo office focusing on housing policy and program implementation.
 
Responsibilities will include providing project and administrative support to our Housing and Community Development team. Project related work for PMC’s municipal agency clients will include providing data gathering, writing and analysis for housing needs assessments and other Housing Element tasks, preparing presentations and other graphics related tasks, and preparing reporting documents associated with Housing Element. Administrative tasks may include filing, organizing paper and electronic project files, assisting with other meeting materials, and providing scheduling support as needed.
 
Candidate must be a student working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in city and regional planning.  The ideal candidate will be able to begin work on or before March 24, 2014 and work up to 20 hours per week during the academic school year and potentially up to full-time (up to 40 hours) during summer break.  Candidate must be within close proximity to our San Luis Obispo office.
