Entry-Level Biologist

Location: Rancho Cordova

We are currently seeking entry-level Biologists for our Rancho Cordova, California, office. Duties will include, but not be limited to, construction monitoring, biological resource surveys, wetland delineations, data collection and analysis, as well as report and permit preparation for a variety of clients throughout California. Full time and part time positions are available.  

Required Skills

  • Organize equipment and make logistical arrangements for field studies.
  • Assist project managers in data management, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Take initiative to resolve problems, as well as create streamlined processes and procedures for biological resource projects.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of B.A. or B.S. in Botany, Wildlife, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.
  • 1-2 seasons of fieldwork experience (college experience included) and/or construction monitoring is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of California flora and fauna, including rare plants.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn company procedures; willingness to try new and improved field techniques and procedures; the ability to make independent decisions as appropriate; and the ability to make adjustments as a member of a team, in an effort to complete tasks in the most efficient and accurate manner.

PMC, a municipal planning firm, is seeking qualified planners to assist with various projects in the Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles areas.  The qualified individuals must possess the following characteristics, skills, and abilities:

  • Posses a minimum of 3 – 10 years experience in the field of city or community planning
  • Understanding of California planning law and practice, including, but not limited to, the following
    • Planning and Zoning law
    • Subdivision Map Act
    • California Environmental Quality Act
  • Ability to organize staff resources in teams to deliver projects on time and budget.
  • Ability to synthesize project details, identify opportunities and pitfalls with project ideas and concepts, and present information effectively and succinctly to clients, planning commissions, elected officials, and the public.
  • Ability to work in a variety of locations and environments on a variable schedule.
  • Experience processing a variety of residential and commercial development projects.
  • Experience processing general plan and specific plan amendments, as well as rezonings and zoning code text amendments.
  • Experience working with multiple publics.

Planning Intern

Location: San Luis Obispo

We have an immediate need for a planning intern to join our San Luis Obispo office focusing on housing policy and program implementation.

Responsibilities will include providing project and administrative support to our Housing and Community Development team. Project related work for PMC’s municipal agency clients will include providing data gathering, writing and analysis for housing needs assessments and other Housing Element tasks, preparing presentations and other graphics related tasks, and preparing reporting documents associated with Housing Element. Administrative tasks may include filing, organizing paper and electronic project files, assisting with other meeting materials, and providing scheduling support as needed.

Candidate must be a student working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in city and regional planning. The ideal candidate will be able to begin work on or before October 6th, 2014 and be interested in working up to 20 hours per week during the academic school year and potentially up to full-time (up to 40 hours) during summer break. Candidate must be within close proximity to our San Luis Obispo office.

We are currently seeking qualified Assistant, Associate and Senior Planners to join a diverse team of professionals working together in a variety of functions related to current and long-range planning, supporting our clients in the San Joaquin Valley region. Responsibilities will include various functions of current and long range planning, including, but not limited to: review of project plans and project entitlement processes, assist in the development or review of long-term planning documents, serve as an extension of agency staff, prepare/present staff reports, and assist with preparation of environmental documentation.

The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to efficiently conduct research efforts; provide clear, concise, and accurate technical writing and analysis; and represent PMC and our client agencies during project meetings and public hearings. Must possess working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of city planning, land use planning, and state/federal regulatory processes including CEQA/NEPA. In addition, the successful candidates will communicate effectively and assist with marketing and business development efforts. The ideal candidates will have experience working in the San Joaquin Valley area.
