PMC was selected by Kern County to conduct a consensus-based visioning effort for the future development of the Oildale community. Prior to the two-day immersion workshop, extensive public outreach created a high level of community enthusiasm for workshop participation, and event turnout numbered close to 200 community members. The visioning workshop successfully provided a forum for soliciting issues, ideas, and strategies for addressing Oildale’s economic prosperity and enhancing the quality of life.
Products included a comprehensive public outreach strategy along with stakeholder meetings and the intensive community visioning workshop. As a result of the workshop, an illustrative Vision Plan encapsulated the community’s ideas and a strategy for future development. All projects, programs, and policies necessary for the Vision Plan’s implementation were outlined in an implementation action plan and assigned with priorities, dates, and possible funding sources/mechanisms.
