Kern County selected PMC to conduct and facilitate a consensus-based visioning effort for the future development of downtown Rosamond. Stakeholder interviews, extensive public outreach, and an initial visioning workshop provided a collaborative forum for discussing issues, ideas, and strategies for strengthening and enhancing Rosamond’s economic prosperity and quality of life. A richly illustrated vision poster and plan were developed to capture the community’s vision and identify priorities for the implementation action plan, inclusive of potential funding sources and mechanisms. A post-vision workshop presented an opportunity to incorporate community feedback and refine the community’s vision for the future of downtown Rosamond. The project’s success was built on the foundation of a comprehensive public outreach strategy.
