The City of Vista Redevelopment & Housing Department selected PMC to complete a connectivity audit for the City’s Paseo Santa Fe corridor. Once completed, this study will help guide the City in its creation of a comprehensive framework to more efficiently maximize linkages between Vista’s new public transportation hubs, mixed-use and transit-oriented developments, pedestrian and bicycling pathways, parking, a planned skate park, the historic downtown district, the Vista Village entertainment and retail complex, a business park, and a new civic center. To achieve these linkages, the study will include recommendations for improving the streetscape, managing the anticipated increase in future traffic volumes, and making the usage of alternative forms of transportation more attractive and viable.
PMC utilized a unique and engaging community involvement process in developing the study, which enhances the redevelopment plans for the corridor, including the incorporation of Smart Growth concepts and the coordination of land use, parking, and transportation planning for Vista’s downtown. The study addresses all of the objectives identified in the Santa Fe/Mercantile Corridor Revitalization Strategy Implementation Plan and works within the context of the newly adopted Downtown Specific Plan.
