The Danville Economic Development Department, Chamber of Commerce, and Discover Danville Association wanted to create a “shop local first” marketing website to promote the businesses of Danville as a united front offering high-end and elegant shopping, eating, and leisure activities. PMC launched the site, which takes full advantage of the Ektron CMS, utilizing:
- Custom-styled Google map showing event, transit, retail, and other locations
- URL aliasing for search engine optimization
- Calendar of events system with repeating events and multiple calendar views
- Merchant accounts:
- Allowing login and customization of their promotional page
- Synchronization with business license system
- Soon to allow merchants to place special promotions, offers, and coupons online and e‑commerce
- Flash slideshows, rotating through images based on subject matter
- Local weather forecast with icon pulling from a third-party site
