PMC worked with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), and San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) to support the preparation of the Regional Airport Study to address demand and capacity at Bay Area airports. Projected growth in business and recreational travel, and air cargo shipment may result in capacity issues at Bay Area airports as early as 2020. The Regional Airport Study explored a number of scenarios to serve future traffic demand at Bay Area airports while ensuring convenient, reliable access to air travel; preserving a healthy economy; responding to climate issues; and supporting livable communities. This work included developing a brand for the planning effort, developing and maintaining a project website, developing collateral materials, and planning and facilitating regional workshops. The outreach project required coordination among three regional agencies—MTC, ABAG, and BCDC—for development of meeting materials content. Workshops were held throughout the nine-county Bay Area, with several rounds of workshops to address various phases of project completion.
